Last week we were able to sneak in one last park before the rain started in Nokesville, VA. The Nokesville Community Park is a very large park in Prince William County.
The park has a lot to offer everyone including the sports community, equestrian community and anybody who enjoys being out in nature. Nokesville Community Park has soccer fields, baseball fields, volleyball courts, two equestrian rings, horseshoe pits, hiking trails, and picnic pavilion. A playground is also tucked away down a small trail from the parking lot. The playground is very conveniently located next to the indoor restrooms. But being that it was February the restrooms were winterized. There was one piece of play equipment which was in good condition along with toddler swings and a tire swing that was missing. The area is heavily wooded with lots of shade even without the trees having leaves. This park is also great for geo-caching and it has many caches throughout the park.
It's too bad I couldn't get anymore pictures of the park since it decided to start raining heavily. The kids and I are going to go back and check out the hiking trails throughout park. One note of advice I need to give is that you can't see the playground from the parking lot so just keep an eye out for the park sign with arrows.
This is a very nice natural park with lots to offer everyone!

Rosemount-Lewis Regional Park in Manassas, VA!
Last week we checked out Rosemount-Lewis Regional Park in Manassas, VA. This Prince William County park is located off of 1100 Crestview Drive. The county website has the address as 8150 Ashton Avenue but this is not correct.
The park has two pieces equipment in pretty good shape. The tennis and basketball court were in good shape as well. The equipment didn't have any shade over it but the picnic pavilion is right next it. Sadly there are no restrooms for this park. But there are plenty of paved walking trails for you to stroll on in and around the park.
The park entrance is located in a cul de sac on Crestwood Drive. You have to park in the cul de sac and walk down the gravel drive to get to the walking trails, tennis court, basketball court, play equipment and picnic pavilion. As you can see from the red arrow I have added to the above photo I have pointed out that only pedestrians and emergency vehicles are allowed on the gravel road. Apparently I just glanced over that sign and with the gate open I just drove on in. Not until after we were done checking out the park that I noticed the small sign. If I learned anything from this mistake is that it's a pretty good walk down the gravel road to get to everything.
This was a cute park with plenty of grass and trees for the kids to run around. If you live in the Crestwood Village or Paradise Townhomes in Manassas you can easily walk to the park down one of the paved paths or gravel road to check it out.

Fairmont Park in Manassas, VA!
The weather was great today so the kids and I ventured out to Prince William County and did a park crawl. First up on our list was Fairmont Park in Manassas, VA. This Prince William County park is located off of Fairmont Avenue in a neighborhood of single family homes.
The park has one piece of the equipment, a set of toddler swings and a tire swing for the older kids. The equipment doesn't have much shade over it but there is a grove of trees for the kids to get out of the heat. One of the big slides was out of commission but the rest of the equipment was in good shape. There are restrooms at the park but since it's still February the indoor restrooms were winterized.

Joseph D. Reading Park in Manassas, VA!
A few weeks ago we checked out Joseph D. Reading Park in Manassas, VA. This cute little Prince William County park is close to Route 28 near Kline's Freeze on Maplewood Drive. If you weren't looking it for it you would never know it was there.
The park is tucked back away from Maplewood Drive. It has several walking paths, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic pavilions. More importantly there are two little playgrounds with permanent restrooms near by. The equipment was in good shape with lots of shade around the equipment. The one turn off was that the slides were aluminum and were kind of hot when we went to check them out.
This park was very cute and very well maintained. In you live in Manassas you should check it out!

Signal Hill Park in the City of Manassas Park, VA!
A few days ago we checked out Signal Hill Park in the City of Manassas Park located in Prince William County. This 110-acre park includes a water park, playground, multipurpose field, basketball courts, softball field, picnic pavilion, picnic area and grills, walking paths and a fishing pond. The Signal Bay Water Park includes a zero entry pool and lazy river.
The playground doesn't have any shade but on a nice day the equipment is decent and there is a swing set. There is two shaded picnic tables near the playground with restrooms. If the kids get tired of the playground you can walk along the trails to the pond to check out the ducks and geese. If you're into geo-caching this park has plenty for you to track down.
This park has a lot to offer for sport enthusiasts and the kids!

James S. Long Park in Haymarket, VA!
Last week we headed out to James S. Long Park in Haymarket, VA. Located in Prince William County, the regional park is spread out over many acres and includes trails, baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, several different picnic pavilions, an equestrian ring, equestrian friendly trails and grass equestrian area. A small Gainesville Library is also located on the property. The park is located just down the road from the communities of Piedmont, Westmarket and Dominion Valley.
There is a playground in the park that offers two different pieces of equipment. The playground is partially shaded by a large tree near the equipment. The playground sits higher up on a small hill where you can overlook all the ball fields. Restrooms are located nearby and you use either the porta potties or the restroom located in the library.
James S. Long Park is very diverse in all the different activites you can do here. If you enjoy geocaching or just like to get out an enjoy nature you can walk along the Carthapin Creek for about 3.5 miles. It's great for walking, jogging, biking and equestrian usage.

Clareybrook Park in Bristow, VA!
Today we visited Clareybrook Park in Bristow, VA's community of Braemar. This cute community park is part of the planned community of Braemar. Located in Prince William County, Braemar has a small town feel with newer single family homes, townhomes and condos.
The play equipment is very colorful and the kids have a couple different pieces of equipment to choose from including swings.
The park also has a small shaded picnic area to get away from the sun. Restrooms are available in the clubhouse which is situated by the community pool but only during the summer months. A small walking trail runs around the pool and play equipment. A basketball, tennis and multipurpose court are available to residents.
