Nottoway Park in Vienna, VA!

Last week we checked out Nottoway Park in Vienna, VA. Tucked back amongst a lovely neighborhood of single family homes on Courthouse Road in Fairfax County this 84 acre park has plenty for everyone.

The Hunter House sits on the Nottoway Park property named after it's original owner. This original farmhouse as been renovated over the years and was purchased by the Park Authority in 1972. It now can be rented to accommodate social and corporate events.

Besides the Hunter House the park has many different recreational courts and fields including tennis, basketball, volleyball courts and baseball fields. Different walking, biking and hiking trails run throughout the park as well. A small playground is located in a shady part of the park and sits near the public restrooms. The equipment is small but does include a set of swings with both toddler and child swings.

This very large park has a lot to offer Oakton and Vienna. If you enjoy organized sports there are plenty of different options to choose from at Nottoway. If you live in the area you should stop by and check it out!

Joseph D. Reading Park in Manassas, VA!

A few weeks ago we checked out Joseph D. Reading Park in Manassas, VA. This cute little Prince William County park is close to Route 28 near Kline's Freeze on Maplewood Drive. If you weren't looking it for it you would never know it was there.

The park is tucked back away from Maplewood Drive. It has several walking paths, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic pavilions. More importantly there are two little playgrounds with permanent restrooms near by. The equipment was in good shape with lots of shade around the equipment. The one turn off was that the slides were aluminum and were kind of hot when we went to check them out.

This park was very cute and very well maintained. In you live in Manassas you should check it out!

Ida Lee Park in Leesburg, VA!

Yesterday we checked out Ida Lee Park in Leesburg, VA for the first time. This Western Loudoun County park is very nice. It includes a community garden share, water park, tennis courts, basketball courts, walking trails, library, recreation center and two playgrounds. Since we were coming from Potomac Falls we had a nice drive through the historic section of Leesburg to arrive at the park.

When we went it was in the afternoon hours and the playground was in complete shade. There was plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit and watch the kids play.  Also a small shaded pavillion was available for groups or parties. A porta potty was available next to the park but the library is very close if you want a clean indoor restroom. The play equipment was in great shape and the kids had a blast.

We are definitely going to come back and play at this park again! The kids had a great time and the park was nice and clean.

Glyndon Park in Vienna, VA!

This week we checked out Glyndon Park in the town of Vienna, VA! Vienna has a hometown feel and the older surrounding neighborhoods are filled with beautiful custom homes.

The cute little park is surrounded by huge older trees with plenty of shade. The 11-acre park has a baseball field, basketball court and two lighted tennis courts. Along with a very nice playground and walking trails a picnic pavillion is available. Restrooms are available at the park.

This is very nice park in a great area. We will definitely will be visiting this park in the future!

Next Stop Northside Park in Vienna, VA!

Briar Patch Park in Sterling, VA!

This week we checked out a local park, Briar Patch Park. This Loudoun County park is located in Sterling Park. Sterling Park was one of the first planned communities in Eastern Loudoun County. Once farm land it was developed into homes and townhomes in the late 60's.

The playground has a several different age appropriate pieces of equipment. It also has a small fenced in area with a gate for little ones to run around.

There is not much shade and this park can get hot in the summer months. It does offer porta potties for your convenience . It's a nice park and one that we will hit up often.

Time to explore Woodmont Park in Arlington, VA!

Ashburn Park aka "The Dinosaur Park"

The Ashburn Park located in Ashburn, VA is known as the Ashburn "Dinosaur" Park to many parents. This park is located in Loudoun County off of Partlow Road in the heart of Old Town Ashburn. It has four different sets of equipment for all different age groups with pictures of dinosaurs on them. The park has lots of shade on a hot day and a porta potty is located near the entrance to the park.

A pavillion is located in the middle of the park and is great place to have a picnic lunch. They added a new piece of equipment for the older kids and it has a great scavenger hunt game and rock wall. If you walk further into the park there is also a small creek and trails. The trail eventually leads to the W&OD Trial and backs to another community trail system.

Great park with lots of things for the kids to do. Ashburn Park is definitely in our Top Ten of parks in the Northern Virginia area!
